What You Will Need to Efile Your Taxes
Are you Ready to Get Started?
Nothing makes preparing your tax return more difficult than not having the required information. Even with all the conveniences of e-filing and online tax programs you still have to have your paperwork in order before you can get started.
There are certain pieces of information that the government wants and there's no getting around it. Use the following checklist to make sure you have the basics:

-
Copies of all W-2's, 1098, 1099's and documentation supporting any other income you and/or your spouse are claiming.
-
Your child's day care provider Tax Payer Identification number (TIN)
-
The TIN number of any other dependant-related care facilities or providers
-
Student loan interest/college tuition expense amounts
-
Form 8332 or a copy of divorce decree for non-custodial parent claiming child.
-
Checking account number and bank routing number
-
Any documents that show tax exempt status
-
Bank statements, sales receipts and other documentation that shows proof of deductions
-
Alimony receipts
-
Asset statements for stocks, bonds or mutual fund investments (these documents should show purchase price, sale price and commissions paid)
-
Records of any IRA or other retirement plan contributions
